4 Easy DIY Ornaments from Household Items

I was asked by the lovely gals at Etsy Australia recently to contribute some easy DIY Christmas ornaments using only items from around the house to the Australian magazine Women’s Day. My Nanna would have been so proud I was featured in this magazine as it’s a long time staple in many Australian households.

It was such a great challenge to think of ideas and I’m really happy with the results. You can check out the story in last week’s Women’s Day for all the steps, but I thought I’d share some of the ideas here too.

The first was bow tie macaroni garlands which you can see above. I made mine with neon pink and bronze, but you could make them any combination of colours.

The next is an easy yarn star ornament even little folk can create.

To make, use a key ring circle as your base. Wrap different coloured yarns across the circle and tie to each side.

You could make different sizes to hang as well.

You might remember a while back I made some cute wooden spoon dolls.

It’s easy to make wooden spoon angels by just adding some pretty wings. You can check out all the steps for this one in Women’s Day too.

And of course, if you need to use some of that washi tape you’ve stored up for a rainy day – little presents wrapped in tape are adorable too.

These are all great kid’s crafts for all those lucky folks snowed in (so jealous!).  Thanks Etsy and Women’s Day for such a fun project!

P.S. Have you been following our “12 Days of DIY“? Lots of great recipes, downloads and DIY ideas are happening round these parts…go check it out!
