I found this amazing blue tinsel tree at my local $2 shop last week and I knew I had to DIY some bright and bold Christmas ornaments to match it’s pretty colour.
This is a super easy project the kids will love, because I’m going to be honest – it’s kinda messy…
Clear baubles (or you could paint over ones from last year too if you want to recycle)
Paint in assorted colours
Container with water
TIP: I spray painted to baubles so they were nice and smooth, but you could paint them with a brush if you don’t have spare spray paint lying around.
Step 01: Take the tops off your baubles and place a skewer into the bauble.
Set up a workstation with a drop sheet under the jars and place your skewered baubles in the jars.
Paint each bauble a base colour.
Step 02: Go crazy and splatter the paint until you like the effect.
I’ve found the best splatter method is to dip your paint brush in the paint, then dip it in some water and flick across back and forward.
Step 03: Leave your baubles to dry.
Then pop your tops back on.
Now just hang on your tree!
I love how these have a beautiful glass look too.
Are you DIYing your Christmas baubles? I’d love to know what you’re making!
